ARD - Síndrome do Emputecimento Progressivo - Mini-CD Promo 2005

This year, upon completing 21 years of solid service to the punk/hardcore scene, ARD (After Radioactive Destruction) recorded Síndrome do Emputecimento Progressivo (Syndrome of Progressive Pissed-Offness), their first all-digital work. ARD guarantees that their debut CD, packed with 12 ass-kicking hardcore tracks, is leaving the oven and will be in stores soon. This promotional mini-CD, with 3 cuts, will give you a taste of the catastrophic soundscape on its way from the central Brazil's elders of HC in their best phaze yet. The old-skool-punk-80s-thrash-metal hybrid-crossover "Pátio Brasil" (the name of a mall in Brasília) features excoriating lyrics and a "pungent" sonority. "Vou Morrer Punk" ("I'm gonna die punk") is the most powerful of the promo-pack: the brain-sticking refrain, sung in unison by the crowds that swarm the stage at ARD shows, is as sincere and direct as it gets and may one day become a punk anthem. "Terremoto" ("Earthquake") appeared on the 1988 LP Causas Para Alarme (Causes for Alarm) and appears here in "heavier clothing" -- thrashed up thanks to the measured doses of metal injected by guitarists Maurício GB and Rafael. If less raw and direct than the original, this version burns with brutality while maintaining the punk attitude. Vander's slap bass is sometimes reminiscent of the great Robert Trujillo in his Suicidal Tendencies phaze. Dead-punk vocalist Gilmar, who used to play bass and sing, is now more ferocious than ever at the mic. A release from the storied band of the Brazilian capital's underground sure to please even the most discriminating fans of punk, HC and headbanging thrash
